Just a couple photos from the day. It was a good one for me, and I hope it was for you as well! I’m still stuffed, so it’s time to relax and read a book.
Apparently, Minions are very popular right now! Fine with me. They’re fun to make and so so cute. This one is going out for a Xmas present for someone’s little sister.
Business has been awesome lately, and I’m so thankful for that. Two orders just came in through my Etsy shop for some Alabama mohawk hats. As soon as I finish my current order (baby santa hat and headwrap) I’m moving on to them. All this while getting ready for Thanksgiving. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but my mom has a very severe case of Rheumatoid Disease. She hurts all the time and stays tired constantly. One reason I still live at home at the rife old age of 26, is because I feel like she needs me around you, know? I do most of the cooking, grocery shopping, etc. And even though she always rallies enough to participate in the holidays, I’m so glad I’m here to help her and do most of the cooking. And for me, there’s no such thing as not going all out for the holidays. There’s no such thing as too much food, and we better be eating leftovers for a week.
So, busy week. If I don’t make it back here before Thanksgiving, have a great one!
It’s COLD out there today. And not just COLD, but WINDY. Wind chill of 18 tonight. And it only got up to mid 30s today. I didn’t really want to venture out into the elements today, but alas, have to get stuff done. Delivered some hats, went on a yarn run, which also included getting hot cocoa mix, peppermint bark, white chocolate coffee, and whipped topping. Yep, it’s cold. Anyway, before I left, I threw some apples and sundry other ingredients in the crock pot. It smelled amazing when I got back, but I wanted a crunchy topping, so I transferred the concoction to a baking dish, made a crumble topping, baked for half an hour, and voila! Delicious apple crumble for a cold day.
I only have one more hat to make, to be delivered Thursday, and I’ve already started, so I’m going to take a break, be lazy, cuddle my baby dog, and read for a bit. Hopefully I won’t fall asleep.
I loved the way the sun was shining on the beautiful fall leaves, so I took my best friend for a walk and took some photos. This is truly the best time of the year for me. Right now I’m drinking some delicious cider and enjoying the evening. Can’t wait to snuggle down with Opie and read a good book. And that’s my Saturday night.
“Powerful winds that crack the boughs of November! – and the bright calm sun, untouched by the furies of the earth, abandoning the earth to darkness, and wild forlornness, and night, as men shiver in their coats and hurry home. And then the lights of home glowing in those desolate deeps. There are the stars, though! – high and sparkling in a spiritual firmament. We will walk in the windsweeps, gloating in the envelopment of ourselves, seeking the sudden grinning intelligence of humanity below these abysmal beauties. Now the roaring midnight fury and the creaking of our hinges and windows, now the winder, now the understanding of the earth and our being on it: this drama of enigmas and double-depths and sorrows and grave joys, these human things in the elemental vastness of the windblown world.” – Jack Kerouac
Not dressing up this year or really doing anything. But I wanted to share some photos of my costumes over the last few years.
I’ve been everything from a bearded lady to Scout’s ham costume from To Kill a Mockingbird.
Storms are headed this way, and I feel bad that it’s going to ruin Halloween for all the kids. As for me, horror movies, a couple drinks, and some candy.
