Let’s Talk About Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on Etsy

And how much it sucks. KIDDING. Sort of. I’ve spent the last two days literally doing nothing but working on my improving the SEO in my Etsy shop after reading tons of articles and how-tos, and advice forums. In that time I only got one page of listings done, because I was that thorough and thoughtful about it. It was a lot of changing tags, titles, keywords, and descriptions, waiting a bit for the changes to show up on search, then searching and see where I was in the results, then changing and tweaking as necessary. Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.

What did it get me? A whopping THREE whole views yesterday, and one awful headache. I am angry, frustrated, and yes, ready to give up. Read to close down my Etsy shop and spend the next few years giving way my items as Christmas and birthday gifts. It’s so depressing I don’t even want to create anything. My whole mindset is clouded with it, with the failure and lack of views and sales, and how my dream of making a living selling things I create is probably nothing but a pipe dream.

I’m sorry to be such a downer, and for throwing my own pity party. But I need to rant a bit today, get out of my system. I don’t even want to look at my shop today. Maybe I should take a break…

Coming Soon!

It’s a cool cloudy day, which means I finally got outside on the patio for a photoshoot. And I had A LOT of new stuff to photograph. I guess I’ll spend the next few days doing listings. Also, doing a giveaway soon!

Chips, the healthy way!

Did a little experimenting on this stormy night, and tried my hand at making some healthy alternative chips.

I started with garlic salt seasoned zucchini chips, and they were awesome.

But my favorite is definitely the sweet potatoes! They were made with cinnamon and honey, and came out perfectly.

And, yes, I know, sweet potatoes aren’t exactly low carb, but they have amazing health benefits, especially for women with PCOS. Plus I just love sweet potatoes.

Next time, it’s kale chips.

BACON Wrapped Asparagus

I promise I’ll be posing crafting soon! I’ve been working on so many things! But for now, more food.

One thing (among many) that’s so great about the the ketogenic diet is that bacon is not only accepted, but encouraged. Granted, you don’t want to gorge yourself on it, that’s not healthy. But the recipes and possibilities are endless. Tonight I tried asparagus wrapped in bacon, and you guys, IT WAS TO DIE FOR. The only bad thing about the recipe is that the “marinade” it’s cooked in has brown sugar in it. You could probably leave it out and it would be fine, but the little sweet flavor it adds is perfect.

Here’s how to make it: Wash and cut your asparagus. I used 4 sprigs per slice of bacon and wrapped it up and placed on a pan. Melt stick of butter in a sauce pan, add dash of garlic salt and pepper, and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Bring to a boil, then pour over asparagus. Bake at 400 degrees until bacon is done.

I promise you will love it. I plan to make this again soon, but I’ll nix the brown sugar next time.
